Obituary

Margie Kane, 79, Sturgis, died Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Following her wishes, her body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Rev. Howard Smith officiating.

Margie was born in Berlin, Germany, on March 20, 1931. She was raised by her grandparents and later by an aunt. At the end of WWII, Margie married an American Paratrooper. To this union, a son, Tom, was born. The family moved to the United States in 1959 and settled in Pierre, SD. A second son, Bob, was born in 1961. In 1963, Margie divorced and became a loving, single, working mother of her two sons. She was very dedicated to her sons, making sure they had her love and support for all their endeavors and her guidance still leads them today.

She worked as a waitress at various restaurants in Pierre until meeting George Kane. They were married June 24, 1982, in Las Vegas, NV. They shared 28 wonderful years. George and Margie enjoyed traveling. Their trips took them to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii. The especially loved taking cruises, but their favorite destination was Vegas.

She is survived by her husband, George Kane, Sturgis; two sons, Tom Stalley, Rapid City, SD, and Bob (Jennifer) Stalley, Pierre, SD; and three grandchildren, Jared, Jenny, and George Stalley.

A memorial has been established.
