Maria Angelina Parsons, 81, Sturgis, left on her journey to heaven, November 28, 2016, following complications from surgery.

"Angie" was born November 20, 1935, in Safford, AZ, to Pedro and Carlota Campos. She lived in Safford until moving to Tucson, AZ, to attend St. Mary's School of Nursing. In 1958, she met the man of her dreams, Airman Second Class William "Bill" Parsons. They were married and had four children: Patricia, Katherine, Robert, and Roseann.

In 1975, after Bill's retirement from the Air Force, the family moved to Sturgis, SD, and Angie began working at St. Joseph's Hospital in Deadwood. After 40 years of nursing and mentoring people in the medical field she retired, but her caring heart and teaching are still in evidence today. During her battle, several staff members she had trained and nurtured were there to care for her; making her as comfortable as possible. To these special people: Dr. Holloway, Shelia, Mary Jo, Todd, Jo Brackett, and others, "Thank you. It is a blessing to know how much she was loved by those she worked with."

Angie was devoted to God, to her family, and to her job. She will be very much missed by the many people who were touched by her loving care.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Parsons, Sturgis, SD; three children, Robert Parsons, Sturgis, SD, Katherine Parsons, Sturgis, SD, and Roseann Silvernagel, Sturgis, SD; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Parsons; and her mother, Carlota Campos.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 5, 2016, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at 10:00 AM at St. Martin's Chapel in Sturgis with Father Timothy Castor officiating. Inurnment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
