Marietta was born June 19, 1926, in Aurora, NE, to Bernard M. and Marguerite L. (Orendorff) Budler. She met and married "Kelly" Callahan on May 15, 1958. Marietta lived in Rapid City until 1976, when she and Kelly moved to Sturgis.
She always tended and enjoyed a large garden and loved spending time in the Black Hills! She could be found camping, fishing, and even bagging her own elk! Her hands were always busy cooking, sewing, crafting, and caring for family and friends. She retired from Fort Meade in May of 1989, and lived in Spearfish, SD, until July of 2012. In Spearfish, she continued to transport friends and neighbors to appointments.
Marietta was a member of the TOPPS group, American Legion Auxiliary, and served on the election board. During the Sturgis Rally she could be found helping cook breakfast for rallygoers.
Marietta L. Callahan, 93, Rapid City, died Sunday, November 24, 2019, in Rapid City.
Survivors include four sisters, Donnabelle, Melania, Ramona, and Bonnie; daughters, Georgia (Doug) Spelts and Rita (Chuck) Canton; sons, Tom (Kaye) Miller and Charles C. (Penny) Callahan; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Marietta was preceded in death by her husband, Kelly; brother, Jack Budler; and sister, Benilda Hartzell.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2019, with visitation an hour prior, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Father      Timothy Castor officiating. Committal will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
A memorial has been established to the Rapid City Regional Hospice House.
