Marilyn "Dee" Storjohann was born on April 17, 1938 in Chamberlain, SD to Florence and Bert Wattson. She spent her school years in Chamberlain, and the family eventually moved to Sturgis in 1973.
Marilyn married Karl Storjohann in July of 1957 in Tokyo, Japan. Together, they had three daughters, Lisa, Karla, and Vicki.
Dee was very active in Grace Lutheran Church in Sturgis. She served there as a council member and an organist, and participated in the choir and GLCW. She was also an active volunteer in many of the community activities, such as the hospital auxiliary and Meals on Wheels, as well as being a Buttons and Bows member and part of the Beta sorority group. Besides being a devoted mother and wife, Dee also worked for the Meade County Treasurer's office, eventually retiring after many years of service at the age of 65.
Dee Storjohann, 82, of Sturgis, died Friday, March, 5, 2021 at the Monument Health Hospice House in Rapid City.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Yeager-Kylen (David) of Carnation, WA, Karla (Dana) Clark of Longmont, CO, and Vicki (Linn) Redinger of Spearfish, SD; eight grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Joel (Elli) Schwiesow.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Darryl Wattson; and her sister, Debra Schwiesow.
Dee was a much beloved mother and grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Grace Lutheran Church in Sturgis, with Pastor Kris Garlick officiating. Burial will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Sturgis Meals on Wheels.
