Marion G. Fountain, 91, Sturgis, died February 21, 2015, at the Hospice house in Rapid City.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, February 26, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Jenene Earl officiating. Inurnment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
Marion was born November 19, 1923, at Laurenburg, NC, to Samuel E. and Viola (Beasley) Todd. She grew up in North and South Carolina and graduated from Lumberton, NC, High School. After completing her education, she worked as a switchboard operator for a telephone company.
She married Olen Dunn in 1941 and they had one child, Olen L. Dunn, Jr. In 1956, they divorced.
Marion married James Fountain in 1968 and they moved to Chattanooga, TN. While in Tennessee, she became a huge fan of the Tennessee Volunteers Football Team and enjoyed going to the games. In 1991, they moved to Shallotte, NC. Marion loved long walks on the beach and enjoyed collecting sea shells.
Following her husband's death in 1995, she moved to Rapid City to be close to her family. She became known to all as "Little Granny." She enjoyed playing cards with her family, reading, movies, her dogs, and going to Deadwood. She especially loved her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Sharon Dunn, Rapid City; grandchildren, Trisha (Dan) Roe, Sturgis, and Trina (Corey) Norris, Rapid City; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Taylor, and Tanner Norris and Kaitlyn and Shelby Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son, and brother.
A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Hills.
