Obituary

Marion Ellen (Lynch) Larsen, age 73, passed away in her sleep at the Hospice House on Friday night, October 21, 2016, at 7:15 p.m. with her family by her side after a 3 year battle with cancer.

Marion was born in Chatfield Township, MN, on January 8, 1943, to John and Lorna (Marker) Lynch. She graduated in 1961 from Chosen Valley High School in Chatfield, MN. She then moved to Rochester, MN, where she worked various jobs and met Conrad Henry Larsen. They were married on August 8, 1964, in Rochester. They moved to North Dakota and had one daughter, Kay Jeanine Larsen, who resides in Rapid City, SD, on November 19, 1966.

The Larsen's moved to Spearfish, SD; then to Lead, SD; and in 1976 they moved to Sturgis, SD. Marion moved to Rapid City in 2015 after her husband's death on December 1, 2013.

In 1978, Marion joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served faithfully in many callings including seminary teacher, Relief Society president, and music conductor.

Marion loved traveling, camping, traditional country music, singing with Henry, and playing the guitar and taught herself how to play the violin.

She cherished the time spent with her daughter including traveling together, especially a trip as recent as this July to the Pacific northwest.

Marion is survived by her daughter, Kay of Rapid City, SD; two brothers, Bob (Mary) Lynch of Stewartville, MN, and Bill (Linda) Lynch of Buffalo City, WI; four sisters, Carol Lynch of Rochester, MN, Helen (Dwayne) Hotopp of Racine, MN, Betty (Ken) Warner of Rochester, MN, and Lois (Rick) Berg of Eau Claire, WI; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad Henry Larsen; her parents, John and Lorna (Marker) Lynch of Chatfield, MN; her sister, Cathy (Stanley) Hahn of Medford, WI; two infant brothers, Duane and John Lynch; and one brother-in-law, Dwayne Hotopp of Racine, WI.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 28, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2822 Canyon Lake Drive, Rapid City, SD. Burial will follow at Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.
