Obituary

Marjean M. Huber, 56, Bison, SD, died Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the West River Health Services Hospital in Hettinger, ND.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis on Monday.

Visitation will resume at 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Bison. A Rosary service will begin at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Bison with Fr. Brian Fawcett officiating. A luncheon in Bison will follow. Burial will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hope Cemetery in Newell.

Memorials have been established to the Bison High School Golf and Drama Programs.

Marjean was born July 5, 1953 at Quinn, SD, to George and Annette (O'Dea) Votroubek. She graduated from Wall High School in 1971 and from Black Hills State College with a Bachelor or Arts in Education. She taught high school English in Newell. She coached Drama, Oral Interpretation and Golf, taking students to many state competitions. She was also active as the director for the Newell Community theater.

Marjean married Colgan Huber at Newell, SD, on February 18, 1989. They lived in Newell where she continued to teach until they moved to Bison.

Marjean taught English at the Bison High School. She was the advisor to the Honor Society. She started the Infinite Campus and was the online tutor for E-Sylvan. She continued to direct school plays, one acts, oral interp., and was the coach of the golf team. She was a teacher for 34 years. Her greatest contribution was to her children at school.

She made her presence known in many ways. She was the best hugger and you knew when she was in the room. She will be remembered for many things including her infectious laugh.

Marjean was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She enjoyed darts and golf. She collected children's books, clowns and Coca Cola memorabilia. She also liked the occasional trip to Deadwood, Las Vegas or the Prairie Nights Casino.

Survivors include her husband Colgan Huber, Bison; special kitty cats, Seven, Eleven, Keno, Vegas, Scratches and all the neighborhood cats; brothers, Allen (Ellen) Votroubek, Newcastle, WY, Bruce (Nancy) Votroubek, Spearfish, SD; special aunts, (like a sister), Joanne Oltmanns, Dickinson, ND, Laura Vifquain, Oskoda, Michigan, Betty Byron, Rapid City; uncle, Curly Crocker, Rapid City; mother and father in law, Mary and Eldon Herring, Sturgis; Sister in law, Colette (Rob) Wheeler, Lemmon, SD; brothers in law, Kieran (Carmen) Huber, Rapid City, Creden (Kristie) Huber, Sierra Vista, AZ, Kenan (Teena) Huber, Spearfish, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents, niece Natasha Votroubek and brother Robert Votroubek.
