DENVER | Marjorie Rose Beran, 77, died May 28, 2012, at her home.
Marjorie was born Sept. 17, 1934 in Sturgis. Her parents were Charles H. (Chuck) and Edith E. Rose. She grew up on the family ranch in Bear Butte Valley east of Sturgis. She attended Carpenter School, a one-room country school in Meade County. She graduated from Sturgis High School in 1953 and received a nursing degree from Iowa State University.
Marjorie was married to Dr. Frank Beran in 1958. They resided in Coralville, IA, San Bernadino, CA, and Winnebago, NE before settling in Ft. Atkinson, WI. She moved to Denver, CO in 1979. Marjorie became a Nurse Practitioner there and was employed by Beth Israel Hospital in 1980 where she specialized in geriatrics. She retired in 2001.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sons, Gregory (Patricia) of Centennial, CO and Paul (Patty) of Whitewater, WI; grandchildren, Nicolas, Sofia, and Jeffrey; brothers, Gordon (Ruth), Roseville, MN and Charles (Lois) of Phoenix, AZ and Rapid City, SD; two nieces, a nephew and several cousins.
Memorial services were held June 2 at Sanctuary Christian Fellowship in Denver. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis, S.D., with the Rev. Denzel Nonhof officiating.
Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis is in charge of local arrangements.
