Obituary

Marge was born May 14, 1922, to Peter and Jeannette (Peterson) Larson in Ralph, SD. She attended Black Hills State Teacher's College and received her state teaching certificate. She met George Tivis in college and they were married June 25, 1941, at Broadus, MT. The couple taught school for a short period of time.

She and George had four children: Margie Gaye (Butch) Tysdal, Adelle Rae (Roger) Erickson, Jeffrey George Tivis, deceased, and Layne Charles (Sandi) Tivis.

In 1946, they purchased the Wall Café and Badlands Bar in Wall, SD. From 1955 to 1975, they owned and operated the Silver Dollar Bar in Bowman, ND, after which they moved to the family ranch near Opal, SD. During their ranching days, they also owned and operated Granny's Café in Faith, SD.

Marge would light up a room with her infectious laugh and witty personality. Anyone that met her was a friend for life. She would never turn down a friendly game of cards or a board game. Anyone that knew Marge, in her later years, knew that she was a devoted Minnesota Twin's fan and ironically her passing occurred on the Twin's first game of the 2018 season.

Marjorie L. "Marge" Tivis, 95 of Bowman, ND, died Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Southwest Healthcare Services Long Term Care facility in Bowman.

She leaves to mourn her children, thirteen grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
