IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mark Edward
Devinney
April 19, 1954 – October 11, 2017
Mark was born April 19, 1954, in Luverne, MN, the second of five children born to James and Patricia (Walsh) Devinney. Mark grew up in Hardwick, MN, until the family moved. Mark graduated from high school in 1972 from Willmar Senior High School, Willmar, MN. Upon graduation, Mark enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged after 17 years of service to his country. He then worked for MCI and several other companies over the years.
Even though Mark loved playing in the snow as a child growing up in Minnesota, once he found the warmth of the South, he spent most of his life there. In recent years, he moved to Rapid City, SD, to be near family.
Mark Edward Devinney was called home by "his Lord and his Boss" on October 11, 2017, at the Fort Meade VA Hospice.
Mark is survived by two daughters, Marcie (Tomasz) Piotrowska of High Point, NC, and Myra Devinney of Scottsdale, AZ; three grandchildren; four sisters, Pauline (Steven) Staufacker, Camille (Charles) Callahan, and Julia (Shawn) Bitz, all of Rapid City, SD, and Jamielyn (Dale) Sauvage of Helena, AL; one aunt, Betty Devinney of Bloomington, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James, in 1993, and his mother, Patricia, in 1998.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2017, at Blessed Sacrament Church, Rapid City, SD, followed by burial with military honors at the Black Hills National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
