Obituary

Marlene was born in 1938 in Süpplingen, Germany. Born to Richard and Viktoria Kania, she was one of eleven children. Marlene immigrated to the United States and settled in Denton, TX. While living in Denton, she met and married Arthur Ketterling in 1959. Throughout the marriage, Marlene and Art had two children: a son, Larry Ketterling, and a daughter, Korina Evans (Ketterling).
With Art being in the United States Air Force, Marlene moved to many diverse places where she adapted different customs and cultures. Throughout her life, she enjoyed being a Dental Assistant, Teachers Assistant, and a Chef. Marlene retired from her passion to enjoy time with her grandchildren, Kasey, Kala, and Kaitlyn Kaseman. Later in life, she was gifted three adorable great-grandsons, Aiden Kaseman, Deklan Brown, and Kameron Davis. With her heart being filled with love and joy for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Marlene still had an abundance of love and joy to share with her niece, Katrin Kania-Galeano, and her children, Anna and Nick. As if her heart wasn't full enough, she still had plenty more love to share with her adopted daughter, Andrea Eisenhauer, and adopted granddaughters, Jessica (Eisenhauer) and Priscilla Morataya.
Marlene loved to laugh, sew, crochet, knit, sing, and cook for others. Her biggest enjoyment was being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed many special friendships including Marsha, Mary, Jerry, Connie, and Tiny to name a few. To her former students and most of her friends, she was known as "Oma." She will be greatly missed and to honor her she would like everyone to learn German!
