Obituary

Marlene was born on a farm outside Mitchell, SD, on April 14, 1937, to Floyd George and LoDima Fern (Elliot) Bowman. She attended Custer High School.

Marlene married Harley Greenwaldt at a young age, and as an Air Force wife, traveled all over the country and the world. After 25 years, she divorced and later married Marlow Moon.

She enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing cards, and bingo. They moved to Las Vegas, later returning to South Dakota.

Marlene M. Moon, 77, of Rapid City, died February 2, 2016, at Rapid City Regional Hospital due to pneumonia.

Marlene is survived by her children, Kathy Wooldridge, Springfield, OR, Terry Greenwaldt, Bakersfield, CA, and Debbie Webb, Lynchburg, VA; 2 stepsons, Dale Moon and Dean Moon; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Sharla Baldwin of Bastrop, TX; four nieces; and one nephew.

Marlene is preceded in death by her parents and her sister and brother in law; Fern and Rodney Hampton.

"She loved her children with all her heart."

A memorial service will be Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel, in Sturgis, SD., with Pastor Jil Jennewein officiating. Inurnment will be Monday, February 8, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD.

A memorial has been established to the John Wayne Cancer Institute.
