Marlys J. Daniel, 75, of Sturgis, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2007, at Sturgis Regional Senior Care.

Marlys was born August 12, 1932, in Huron, SD, to Wesley and Sara Chapman. She graduated from Huron High School in 1950 and from Huron College in 1954 with a BA.

She married Lowell Daniel on June 17, 1961. They adopted their daughter, Kathryn Susan Daniel in 1967 and later moved to Sturgis, SD, where she worked as a medical secretary at the VA Medical Center until she retired.

Marlys was a member of the First United Methodist Church, UM Women, AAUW, and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed art, playing bridge, her Saturday morning coffee group, and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband, one daughter, and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 21, 2007, at First United Methodist Church in Sturgis with Rev. Keith Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
