Obituary

Martha (Albrandt) Reinhardt, 94, Sturgis, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at Sturgis Regional Senior Care.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Fox officiating. Burial will be at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche at a later date.

Martha was born March 5, 1914, in Starbuck, WA, to Fred and Catherine (Meier) Albrandt. The family moved to Scottsbluff, NE, and then to South Dakota in 1927.

She married Robert Reinhardt on February 17, 1935, in Nisland, SD. The couple moved to Portland, OR, and returned to the Vale, SD, area in 1938. They farmed in the Vale, Newell, and Arpan areas from 1939 until 1953 when they moved to Belle Fourche. In 1968, they moved to Sturgis where Martha has resided except for a two-year period when she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Jim Sharp, in Northern Virginia.

Once Bob and Martha moved from the farm, Martha worked at Rosanna's, a ladies clothing store, and at the Medical Center; both in Belle Fourche. After moving to Sturgis, she worked at Lola's, also a ladies dress shop, and at Community Memorial Hospital.

Martha kept very busy in her retirement. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and word games. She had many friends and always seemed to have someone dropping in for coffee, cookies, and a chat.

Survivors include three daughters, Janet (Patrick) Hayes of Fairfax, VA, Jean (Jim) Sharp of Bluemont, VA, and Carol Meyer of Punta Gorda, FL; one brother, Henry Albrandt, Mose Lake, WA; two sisters, Millie (Robert) Ashley, Rapid City, and Emma (Charles) Painter, Moscow, ID; seven grandchildren, Lorri Skinner, James B. Meyer, Carole Riddle, Linda Hayes, Doug Sharp, Denell Deavers, and Barry Sharp; and two great-grandchildren, Arielle Sharp and Lorri Deavers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob in 1992; one grandson, Michael Hayes in 1995; and her siblings, John, Alex, David, Mary, and Esther (all in infancy), Rachel Phillipsen, Alex, Fred, and Victor.

A memorial has been established to Foothills Assisted Living.
