Martha Alesia Schweitzer passed quietly on February 20, 2020. Funeral services for Martha were held at Black Hills Funeral Home in Sturgis, SD on Monday, February 24, 2020 at 2:00 pm.

Martha was born on September 5, 1936 in Longmont, SD. She was the daughter of John S. and Maggie Schweitzer.  She joined her sisters, Cecelia and Mary Ann and together they welcomed Kathleen, Dean, Majorie, Valentine, Phyllis, Harriet and Dwight.  She attended grade school in Glencross and graduated high school from Timber Lake High School.  On June 2, 1955, Martha married Louis (Shorty) Bader.  Martha and Shorty had six children: Janette, Francine, Eugene, Juanitta, Lowell and Boyce.  They raised their children together in Timber Lake.

Her talents were many and she excelled at anything she attempted. Martha enjoyed working in her flower garden and had a green thumb throughout her life.  She had a special knack for decorating and worked to make a lovely home for her family. Her greatest ability was seeing the talents of each of her children and making sure they achieved in those talents.

Martha worked as a clerk at Timber Lake Sales Barn, bookkeeper for Timber Lake Motors but her greatest achievement was working as county assessor for Dewey and McCook counties. She enjoyed working with numbers and excelled at her positions due to her proficiency in working with numbers.

Martha will be missed by her siblings: Mary Ann, Marj, Val and Phyllis. She is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Bella Vista for the care they provided for Martha. Her children request in lieu of flowers, you donate to your favorite charity.
