Martin Cole Beug, 67, Sturgis, SD, died Tuesday April 29, 2014 at his home in Sturgis.
The family will gather at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday evening.
Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Sturgis. Inurnment with military honors follows at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.
Memorials have been established to the Western Dakota Antique Club and the Sturgis and Meade County Historical Society.
Martin was born February 20, 1947 at Sturgis, SD, to Raphael "Bud" and Doris (Cole) Beug. He grew up on the family farm near Alkali. In 1965 he graduated from Sturgis High School. He was drafted into the US Army and served his country honorably in Germany. Following his discharge he returned home and attended Black Hills State.
On July 11, 1970 he married Rita Meirose. To this union two daughters were born.
Martin returned to the family farm until 1986 when he went to work for Hills Materials. He drove trucks until he became an owner operator of his own rig. After several years of trucking, he retired and spent his time driving his SSR's, traveling to Arizona, spending time with his daughters and their families, and chasing his love of history.
Martin was a member of the VFW and American Legion, the Western Dakota Antique Club, SSR Fanatics, Sturgis and Meade County Historical Society, Jackpine Gypsies and the Bear Butte Flying Club.
Survivors include his daughters, Jenny (Brady) Thompson, Spearfish, Meagan (Rick) Radliff, Spearfish; sister, April (Irwin) Stoner, Sturgis; grandchildren, Kellen and Liam Runyan, Christopher, Tyler and Nicholas Radliff.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
