Martin J. Repaal, 101, Sturgis, died on July 3, 2013, at the Ft. Meade VA Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, July 8, 2013, at Black Hills National Cemetery with Pastor Nick Haasch officiating. A visitation will be held on the same day at Kinkade Funeral Chapel from noon until the time of services. Family and friends are welcome to gather at Kinkade Funeral Chapel before the service.
Martin was born on August 13, 1911, to John and Ingeborg (Aarmot) Repaal in Voss, Norway. He traveled with his family to America, at a very young age in 1915. He was educated up to the sixth grade and from there he became a skilled rubber worker, working on many different kinds of tires. He joined the Army in 1943, and received an honorable discharge.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a good friend to the congregation and to his neighborhood.
Martin is survived by his nephews, Don (Janet) Repaal of Traverse, MI, and Roger (Marjory) Repaal of Eau Claire, WI; and his niece, Nancy (Bill) Paulson of Barnes, WI.
He is preceded in death by his wives, Millie and Mabel; brothers, Magne, Ole, and Eric; and a nephew, Robert Repaal.
A memorial has been established to the Best Friends Animal Society located at 5001 Angel Canyon Road in Kanab, UT 84741.
