SPEARFISH - M. Theresa Berry, 77, Spearfish and formerly of Sturgis, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at her residence in Spearfish. Theresa was born July 5, 1931, in Sioux Falls.
She grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School. She attended community college before working at a supermarket and later working in a doctor's office. She met Dwaine Berry and they were married June 6, 1953, in Sioux Falls. Dwaine was accepted to medical school and they moved to Kirksville, MO. They moved to Sturgis where Theresa lived until moving to Spearfish in 2001. Theresa worked at the bakery at Lynn's County Market and also for Banner Health in Spearfish. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and was very active with the hospital board.
Survivors include two sons, Ed Berry and Tom (Lisa) Berry, all of Spearfish; four grandchildren, Walker, April, Ashley and Tim; one great-grandson, Walker; one brother, Larry Russell, Sioux Falls; and one sister, Connie (Dave) Landry, Sioux Falls.
She was preceded in death by her mother and her husband.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. Rosary, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis, with Father Arnold Kari officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
