Mary Ella Denker Goodrich died Thursday, September 11, 2014, at the Akron Care Center, Akron, IA.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral chapel from 8 a.m. until time of services. Interment follows at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.

Mary was born on May 31, 1916 at Haydraw, Meade County, SD to John and Ida Denker.

Mary attended rural school for 8 years, Sturgis High School, SDSU for BS, and graduate school at Fort Collins, Colorado.

Mary worked as Deputy Auditor of Meade County, SD; did secretarial work at Crane Co, Chicago, IL and for POATC in California during WW II; taught high school Home Ec, Science, English and Speech in South Dakota; and did job placement for Job Services of SD in Rapid City, SD.

Mary was married to John Goodrich on August 25, 1952.

Mary is survived by daughter Gail (Marten) Trotzig of Le Mars, IA; daughter Janet Goodrich (Jim Nelson) of Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren Kristin (Matt) Overton, Dane (Chelsea) Trotzig, Ethan and Nathaniel Nelson: great grandchildren Liam and Olivia Overton;sisters, Lillian Denker of Spearfish and Fern O'Connor of Sturgis and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, son Jack, sisters Kathryn Harwood and Ruth Eppenbaugh, and brothers Robert, Henry, and George Denker.
