Mary Elizabeth Hill, 88, Sturgis, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Sturgis Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jenene Earl officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Newcastle, WY.
Visitation will take place an hour prior to the service.
Mary was born on April 18, 1925, at the Marenda Homestead near Hulett, WY. She was the daughter of Henry Irving and Sara Orpha (Berry) Marenda Bear.
She attended school in Sundance, WY. Mary graduated in 1943 from Sundance High School. She was united in marriage to Charles Hill and they had five children together.
Mary worked in cafes, but really loved to be outdoors doing farm chores and gardening with her children. She loved to read until losing her vision to retinitis pigmentosa.
Mary is survived by three daughters and a son, Sharon Gruenwald of Williams Lake, British Columbia, Francis (Andrew) Cordova of Albuquerque, NM, Marilyn O'Harra of Newton, IA, and Charles (Elizabeth) Hill of Des Moines, IA; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Stallbaum of Spearfish; and a brother, Edgar (Ruth) Bear of Pittsburg, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Irving and Sara Orpha Bear; a daughter, Mavis Anderson; two sisters, Geneva Cooley and Maxine Huckins; a brother, John Bear; a half-sister, Jewell Wells; and a half-brother, Edward Marenda.
