Obituary

Sturgis - Mary Klar, Sturgis and formally of Flandreau, passed quietly away in the early morning hours on Friday, February 8, 2013. Mary was born in Winnepeg, Manitoba in the early 20th Century. She met her future husband, Werner Klar, they married soon after and migrated to South Dakota. First to Sioux Falls, then Yankton, then Flandreau and finally settling in Sturgis. Mary had participated in several charitable organizations throughout her life but she was most active in Eastern Star where she had become a Past Grand Matron of South Dakota. Mary had numerous passions including sewing and crocheting but the one at the top of her list was cooking. She loved to cook; as any of her surviving friends and their families can attest to. She was loved by nearly everyone who ever knew her and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her son, Greg. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Werner Klar; two brothers and two sisters. Upon her request cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. Her ashes will be buried with her husband at Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis. Please no flowers "Flowers are for the living" Mary always said.
