Mary Luptak, 76, Sturgis, died Thursday, October 9, 2008, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be Sunday from noon until 9:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 13, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Arnold Kari officiating. Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Cemetery in South Heart, ND.

Mary was born September 26, 1932, in New Hradec, ND, to Joseph and Mary (Pavlicek) Jirges. She grew up in North Dakota. Mary was married to Henry Luptak in New Hradec on June 11, 1952. They moved from Dickinson, ND, to Lemmon, SD, in 1969 where she worked at the Hospital and Nursing Home. Following Henry's death in 1990, Mary moved to Sturgis in 1991 and has resided there since.

Mary was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and belonged to circles. She was active at the Meade County Senior Citizen's Center. She loved bowling and playing cards.

She is survived by one son, Arnie (Betsy) Luptak, Sturgis; three grandchildren, Cara Luptak-Peterson (Leif) Peterson, Austin, TX, Rachel Luptak, Kansas City, MO, and Erica Luptak, Lincoln, NE; three sisters, Hattie Polensky and Beatrice Fichter, both of Kalispell, MT, and twin sister, Martha Jablonsky, Dickinson, ND; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Luptak, Dickinson, ND, and Evelyn Zinda, Billings, MT.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
