ORLOFF MARY E. (HARDY), 97, passed away on April 22, 2014 at Prairie Hills Care Center in Rapid City, South Dakota.

She was born December 31, 1916, in Detroit to Joseph and Rose (Spacuzzi) Rine, joining seven siblings. She graduated from St. Catherine's High School in 1935 and completed a business school course of study. She married Charles Victor Hardy in 1942. Two children were born to that union: Joseph C. and Mary Victoria prior to the death of her husband in 1953. She raised her children in St. Clair Shores while working for US Rubber, Packard Motors, and Huck Manufacturing. She was nominated for Detroit's Woman of the Year in 1961. She retired in 1969 after marrying John F. Orloff and becoming stepmother to Paula, Mary and Susie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her siblings, her son Joseph and stepdaughter Susie.

She is survived by daughters Victoria, Paula and Mary, five grand children and eleven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 26, at the Golden Living Center — Prairie Hills. Services are planned for June 10, 2014 at noon at Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak, Michigan. Burial will follow at Acacia Park in Beverly Hills, Michigan.
