Maryan Maloney, 84, passed away peacefully at her home Wednesay, October 29, 2014. She was born at home on the Beaird farm near Scenic SD During her working years, she worked as a church secretary at the First Presbyterian Church and the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rapid City. Later, she continued working at Meadowood Lanes and for Joe Connelly, CPA. She then started her own imprinting business which ran successfully for several years. While raising her children, she was a Girl Scout leader, a 4H leader, a member of an Extension homemaker club, the Boots and Saddle Club and West River Appaloosa Club. She enjoyed motorcycle trips with her husband and was proud of the fact that she rode her own. She enjoyed following her children and grandchildren's activities. She and her husband had a high priority for both immediate and extended family. She loved having coffee and visiting with friends. She took pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her three children Margaret Maloney, Barbara (Perry) Johnson, and Tom (Donna)Maloney; grandchildren Andy Johnson, Lena (Aaron Pulver) Johnson, Christine (Andrew) Van Osdol, Sarah (Clint) Schrick, and Mike Maloney; and 5 great grandchildren Her husband, Herb, preceded her in death. At her request, cremation has taken place, and the immediate family will have a private graveside service at Black Hills National Cemetery. A public open house celebration of her life will take place Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 2:00-5:00 at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Holiday Inn. A short memorial service will be conducted at 3:30 pm.
