Maxine Florence Kelly, 89, Sturgis, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at the Sturgis Regional Health Care Center.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 19 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. The family will be present from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis with Pastor Joel Higgins officiating. Burial follows at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Memorials have been established to the First United Methodist Church and the Golden K Kiwanis in Sturgis.

Maxine was born October 10, 1918 at Mitchell, SD, to Charles and Anna (Jonas) Miller. In 1927 she moved with her family to a farm north of Sturgis. She attended Spring Creek School and Sturgis High School where she graduated in 1937. She worked for a short time at the theater in Sturgis and for Dr. Richards in Sturgis.

She married Franklin Doyen and following their marriage they lived in Sturgis and then moved to Ft. Riley, Kansas for 4 years. Maxine returned to Sturgis following her husband's death in 1945, she worked for Dodson's Grocery.

Maxine married Carroll Ginter and they moved to a ranch North of Marcus, SD, where they lived for the next 11 years. After his death in 1959 she moved to Spearfish where she lived for 3 years. She took in ironing and babysat until moving to Faith, SD, where she was employed by the Star-Lite motel for 6 years.

Maxine married Lloyd Kelly, August 24, 1970 at Huron, SD. They lived on a ranch Northwest of Faith, SD, until 1983 when they moved to Faith in November of 1983. She was a member of the Faith Senior Center. In 1988 Lloyd and Maxine moved to Sturgis where they retired. Lloyd died in March of 2004.

In 2006 Maxine moved to the Key City Retirement Home.

Survivors include her sons, David (Judy) Doyen, Landenberg, PA; Bill (Marilyn) Ginter, Spearfish, SD; Kieth (Linda) Ginter, Piedmont, SD; daughter, Laurie (Levi) Eaton, Piedmont; step daughters, Kay Wulf, Boone, IA, Darlene Daughters, McLaughlin, SD, Kristie (Chuck) Foster, Riverside, CA, Marlene (Mark) Gustafson, Faith, SD; brothers, Ernie (Eleanor) Miller, Sturgis, Dean (Donna) Miller, Sturgis; one sister, Anna Ginter, Sturgis; 22 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, one son Richard Doyen; one grandson, Riley Doyen; step daughter, Colleen Samuelson; son in laws, Fred Wulf, Hale Palmer; brothers, Don Miller, Eddie Miller; 2 sisters Goldie Baldwin and Doris Kendrix.
