MC was born Clarence Keller Haley on July 23, 1943, to Walter and Margaret (Keller) Haley in Rapid City, SD. MC grew up on the family ranch at Hereford, SD; he wrestled in high school and that is where his love for bronc riding began. He graduated from Sturgis High School and went on to study Business Administration and Accounting at Black Hills State University.
In 1969, he married Rosalee Ann Greear, they had two children and later divorced.
MC was a professional saddle bronc rider then team roped and tripped steers as he got older. He truly enjoyed competing and improving himself and his horses. MC's greatest joy was working with horses and helping his friends. He was a bit of a perfectionist in everything he didfences needed to be straight! He was also an accomplished leatherworker and braided nearly everything. He always wanted to make something, rather than buy it.
