Melodie was born February 14, 1959, at Bryan, OH, to Clyde Duane and Carol Eileen (Franklin) Mowry.

She graduated from Cabool School in 1977 and worked in an office setting until October 1980, when she entered missionary work in Missouri, Arkansas and Indiana for the next 17 years.

On August 30, 2000, she married Tommy W. Lewis of Nisland, SD. To this marriage was brought one son, Darin Jaime Lewis.

Melodie was employed at the Butte County States Attorney's office at the time of her death.

Melodie Lynn Lewis, 57, Newell, died April 3, 2016, at her home with loved ones gathered around.

Survivors include her husband Tommy W. Lewis and their son, Darin Jaime Lewis, both of Newell, SD; her father, Clyde Duane Mowry, Clarksville, IN; sister, Melinda Lou Mowry and brother, Harmony Glenn (Lori) Mowry, all of Mountain Grove, MO; two nieces, Zoe (James) Myers, Joplin, MO; Faith (Stephen) Reynolds, Webb city, MO; two great nephews, Chandler and Lane, and one great niece, Josslyn, all of Missouri. Other family includes her husband's and brother's families by marriages, all which were loved by Melodie very much!

Preceding her in death was her mother, Carol Eileen Mowry on July 29, 2015.

Visitation will be 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Belle Fourche Area Community Center Theater at 1111 National St. in Belle Fourche.

A memorial has been established to the Hospice of the Northern Hills.
