Merlon Bochman, 77, of Spearfish, SD went home to be with the Lord on January 30, 2025 at Fountain Spring Healthcare, Rapid City, surrounded by his family.

Merlon was born on August 11, 1947 to Thornton and Lucille (Thompson) Bochman at Tyndall, SD where he joined three other siblings.  He attended Fairview School for his elementary education. He attended four years of high school and graduated from Sunshine Bible Academy in Miller, SD. After graduation Merlon attended two years of Mechanic School at Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, SD. Following his time in college he enlisted in the US Navy, becoming a Navy SeaBee and spent two years in Vietnam. Upon his discharge he returned home and went into ranching with his Dad at Tyndall.

Merlon was preceded in death by his parents, Thornton and Lucille Bochman; in-laws, William and Lucille Haynes; Daughter, Carrie Brenner; brother and sister-in-law, Theron and Barb Bochman; three brothers-in-law, Veryl Haynes, Doug Haynes, and Lyle Haynes.

His is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathleen (Kathy) Bochman; son, Cory Bochman; son-in-law, Glen and Peri Brenner; grandsons, Cody Anderson and Colby Ladd; sister, Sharlyn Haynes; brother and sister-in-law, Harlen and Carol Bochman, and a host of friends and family.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February, 18, 2025, 1:30 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel, Sturgis, SD.
