RAPID CITY | Mike Gallant, 55, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at his home of a heart attack. Mike was born on July 22, 1958, at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre, SD, to Rita (LaRoche) and Bob Gallant of Presho, SD. He spent his early years in Presho, where he attended grade school, and he also went to school in Texas, California, Minnesota, and South Dakota, where he graduated from O'Gorman High School in Sioux Falls. Mike continued his education by taking college courses. He was an over-the-road truck driver employed by Bob Gallant Trucking. Mike is survived by his sisters, Melissa Beth and Dave Rowe of Rapid City, and Kerri Gallant of Colorado; brothers, Steven Gallant of Colorado, and David Gallant and Carla Moerike of Arizona; aunt, Retta and George Jackson, Rapid City; uncles, Jerry and Sharon LaRoche of Colorado, and Jim and Kathy LaRoche of Pennsylvania; nieces, Shelly Weber of Colorado, and Heather and Lucky Funderburg of Utah; and nephews, Matt Weber, Matt Gallant, and Chris Gallant, all of Colorado, and Eddie Gallant of Arizona. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Rita; sister, Jill Gallant; grandparents, Clovis and Maxine Gallant, and Edward and Genevieve LaRoche; and nephew, Jeremy Rowe. Private funeral services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations will be given to Feed South Dakota.
