Michael G. Herman, Jr., age 30, of Rapid City, South Dakota, formerly of Eden, New York, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 23, 2015.

He was born April 2, 1985 in Buffalo, New York. The son of Michael G. and Jeanne (nee: Buck) Herman, Sr. Michael graduated from Eden Central School in 2003. He was an active member of Young Life while growing up. He joined the United States Army and served 3 tours in Iraq. His last rank held was Staff Sergeant. He married his wife, Alison Sutherland on May 26, 2013 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles, dirt bikes and target practicing. He had a special love of children. He was a friend to everyone he came in contact with.

He was the devoted husband of Alison (Nee: Sutherland), son of Michael and Jeanne (Nee: Buck) Sr., brother of Sara (Matthew) Monnat and Kimberly (Joseph) Nicosia. Grandson of Antoinette (late John) Herman and late Guy and Betty Buck. Also survived by 5 nieces and one nephew.

Family invites friends to call Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 7PM-9PM and Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 2PM-4PM and 7PM -9PM at the Laing Funeral Home Inc., 2724 West Church St., Eden, NY 14057. A funeral service will be held at 10AM Friday, September 4, 2015 in the Eden United Methodist Church 2820 East Church St. Eden, NY 14057. A full military honors will be given at the Eden Evergreen Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial may be made in memory of Michael G.
