Michael Lee Phillips, 68, Gillette, WY and formerly of Newell, SD, died Monday, January 28, 2013 at his residence in Gillette, WY.

Committal services will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD with Pastor Tom Martin officiating and military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may gather at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis prior to leaving for the cemetery. Visitation will be 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the funeral chapel on Friday.

Mike was born November 25, 1944 at Ypsilanti, MI, to Thomas and Dorthea (McEldowney) Phillips. He was a medic in the US Air Force and was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base near Rapid City, SD. He met Mary Ellen Shaw and they were married on February 14, 1969. They were married 35 years until her death in 2004.

He will be greatly missed by his family, including his daughter, Kendahl (Chris) Wetz, Gillette, WY; son Kristofer Phillips, Casper, WY; sister Dorothy Jane Ableson; grandchildren, Paige Wetz, Allison Wetz, Hunter Wetz, Madalyn Phillips, Bonnee Phillips.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Jack and William Phillips.
