Obituary

Michael "Mike" John Rotolo was born on September 2, 1965, with a full head of beautiful black hair that the nurses at Sheridan Memorial Hospital secretly tied bows in when his father, Julio Rotolo, wasn't visiting. His mother, Carol Shreve, said he had hair that any girl would give her eye teeth for!

In his younger years, Mike could generally be found outdoors adventuring and causing all sorts of discontent, from hanging 45 records from trees, to gathering bucket loads of salamanders, to taking apart his (and his siblings) toys just to "see how it works." He and his brother, Doug Barrett, would spend hours riding their bikes, always looking for an adventure and generally finding trouble as their curiosity always seemed to lead them astray.

As an adult, Mike continued to tinker and soon became a talented and sought-after automotive mechanic and eventually owned his own shop. His work allowed him the freedom to also work on his extra-curricular "toys" as well. Mike loved anything that made a lot of noise and went fast! From motorcycles (nothing but a Harley Davidson would do), snowmobiles, and 4-wheelers to race cars, he loved them all and shared and encouraged that spirit with his son, Michael. From the time Michael could walk, he would "help" his dad fix things. Mike's Italian side would shine when he was working on motors, giving Michael an early start at using the phrase "piece of s#!t" for anything with wheels!

Mike always found peace when he was outdoors. Fishing, hunting, camping, shooting, or just enjoying the great outdoors were some of Mike's favorite pastimes. It was like poetry to watch him hand fishing in the Little Goose Creek behind his house in Big Horn. For being an inpatient Italian, it was surprising that he could patiently wait for a trout to meander into his hand or to find him slowly traversing through the Big Horn Mountains looking at the ground for hours to find its treasures.

Mike embarked on a new adventure on April 29, 2018, and although he must face this new journey alone at first, he will be quickly met by his father, Julio Rotolo, and many loving grandparents and friends that will show him the way.

He will carry with him the love of his son, Michael Rotolo, and his twins, Katelyn and Kaleb, his beautiful mother, Carol Shreve, and his siblings, Doug (Sheila) Barrett, Kristy (Ed) Barrett, all from Gillette, WY, and Julie (Scott) McCrimmon of Surprise, AZ; as well as many, many more family members and friends.

Ride hard and fast with the wind and the sunshine on your face brother.

A celebration will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018, at the Eagles Lodge, 210 3rd Street, Gillette, WY 82716 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a small contribution to assist his son, Michael, with final expenses.
