Michelle was born in Deadwood, SD, on February 27, 1963, to Paul and Mary (Murphy) Burke of Whitewood. Michelle grew up in Whitewood and attended elementary school there. She graduated from Sturgis Brown High School in 1981, went to Black Hills State University and then went on to graduate from Western Dakota Tech as an LPN. She practiced nursing at Ft. Meade VA Medical Center for more than 20 years.
Michelle enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, cooking, baking, and attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events. She made the best cheesecakes around, and she enjoyed sharing them with her loved ones. She was the best Trivial Pursuit player and reveled in the fact that no one could beat her. She had a generous heart, competitive nature, and her compassion radiated through everything she did. Michelle had a zest for life and will be greatly missed by all those who were lucky enough to know her.
Michelle Ann (Burke) Goehner, 55, Whitewood, died Friday, August 17, 2018, at Spearfish Regional Hospital.
Michelle is survived by her husband, Roger; daughter, Erin (Josh); grandkids, Kennedi, Ireland, and Luca; son, Riley; son, Dylan (Emily); siblings, John (Carlene), Monte, Monica, Melody, Mark, Laurie (Jack), and Shaun (Vivian); mother-in-law, Verna; brother-in-law, Steve; sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Dana) and Connie (Don); numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends; and her beloved dog, Murphy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; aunts and uncles; father-in-law, Vernon; sister-in-law, Pam; uncle, John; aunt, Irene; niece, Nichole; great-nephew, Lennon, and cousin, Brian.
A memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2018, at St. Martin's Chapel in Sturgis. Burial will follow at the Whitewood Cemetery.
