Mildred Irene Watson, 92, Redfield, died Saturday October 17, 2009 at the Eastern Star Home in Redfield.
Committal services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2010 at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Friends may gather at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis prior to leaving for the cemetery.
Mildred was born at Redfield, SD, on March 19, 1917, to Oscar and Kari (Anderson) Belcher. She graduated from Redfield High School in 1935. Following graduation she worked various jobs at Sioux Falls, SD.
Mildred married Donald Watson on July 24, 1942. They moved to Los Angeles, CA, where she was employed by Safeway Stores and later she worked for the US Postal Service.
In 1952 Mildred and Don moved back to the Redfield area and she worked at the First National Bank of Redfield until 1975. She was employed by the State Rehabilitation Department. Other jobs included working for the Redfield Housing Association, Foster Grandparent and assistant aide at the Redfield Public School.
Mildred was a member of the United Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and Redfield Hospital Auxiliary. She was a supporter of the Cancer Society and Relay For Life.
Mildred enjoyed reading, listening to music, watching TV game shows and visiting with friends. A common quote from her was, "Thanks a Million"!
Mildred had lived at the Eastern Star Home since March of this year.
Survivors include a niece, Cheryl (Scott) McKay; nephew, Duane Tank, both of Michigan; cousin, Ruth Anderson, Redfield, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Gladys Tank and nephew, Dennis Tank.
