Mildred G. (Petey) Kandt 94 of Tilford, SD died Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at her home. There will be a memorial service Friday, July 15, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Grace Lutheran Church in McClusky, ND, with Rev. George Schuessler officiating and Rev. Charles Taft will deliver a special memorial. The inurnment will be at McClusky Cemetery following the service and Grace Lutheran Ladies Aid will provide refreshments for family and friends immediately after inurnment. Petey was born February 28, 1911 in McClusky, ND to Robert and Lena (Anderson) Saueressig. She married Gustav (Gus) Kandt on January 15, 1934. From childhood on, she possessed the gift of reinventing herself and moved forward through her life with joyful energy, ever expanding her circle. Her final decades were dedicated to her needlework, which continues to bring comfort to many. Survivors include daughters Coleen B. Landstrom of Houston, TX, Kathy Kandt, and special friend Bess Brown of Tilford, SD, sister Grace Anna Childs, 4 grandchildren, Sherry Lynn, John David, Gary Allen and Donna Marie, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, adopted granddaughter Pemina Yellow Bird of Plaza, ND, and loving nieces, nephews, and glorious friends. Her husband, parents, daughter Sharon May, grandson Paul Rice, brothers, Hugo & Vernon, sisters, Clara, Viola, Marvel, Robertta, and Lorraine Pearl preceded her in death. She would gather all the good in every good-bye and teach us how to use it to welcome tomorrow. In lieu of flowers (except for those from YOUR gardens), please send memorials in Petey's name to Hospice Care, to your church, favorite charity, animal shelter, quilting club, or favorite cause, and live your life with the lively generosity that she enjoyed.
