Mildred (Millie) Virginia Lungren, 82, Spearfish, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at her home in Spearfish.
Memorial services will be held Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Chaplain Charley Conger officiating. Inurnment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
Millie was born May 12, 1925, at Medora, N.D., to Fritz and Jessi (Harmon) Timm. She attended grade school at Webb Country School and high school in Newell.
She married Victor Lungren on July 10, 1943. After Vic's discharge from the Army, they lived in Newell for a short time. The couple farmed near Vale until they moved to Deadwood in 1951. To this union, four children were born. Millie worked in Deadwood at J. C. Penney for many years and engaged in numerous small business ventures.
Millie enjoyed her family, her children, grandchildren and especially her great-grandchildren. She loved wildlife and was nicknamed the deer and bunny whisperer. Gardening became a passion for her. Millie loved to sew, crochet and could do about any craft project. Visiting with family and friends brought her such joy. Camping and boating with her family was such an important part of her life.
In 1975, Millie and Vic moved to their dream town, Spearfish, where she worked a short time. She enjoyed their retirement years. Together they enjoyed their travels and after his death, she enjoyed travels with family and friends.
Survivors include her 2 sons,2 daughters,3 brothers, 2 sisters,2 special sister cousins,5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; her parents; two sisters, Eris Kerbel and Ida Mae Dixon; one brother,William (Bud) Timm and infant sister, Madge Timm.
Memorials have been established.
