Milo K. Hemmingson, age 80, went to be with his Lord on November 5, 2022.  The memorial service will be held on November 16th (Milo's birthday) at 10:30 am at Grace United Methodist Church, 10060 Foothills Drive, Piedmont, SD - with Pastor John Britt officiating.  Lunch will follow the service.  Burial, with military honors, will be held at a later date.

Milo, son of Kearney and Velda Hemmingson, was born November 16, 1941, in Hawarden, Iowa.  He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Hawarden High School.  Milo entered the Army National Guard in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1963.

He was united in marriage to Pamela Lang on June 2, 1962.  The couple returned after the service to farm in the Hawarden area.  In 1973 Milo and Pam purchased a farm in the Alcester, SD area where they raised crops, cattle, hogs, sheep and horses.  They built a horse arena on the farm where they held many team roping events.  He and Pam raised paint and pinto horses, showed them, and participated in team roping.

Milo was known for his practical jokes and his sharp sense of humor.  He was also known for his sweet, gentle demeanor.  He loved to fish, do woodworking, work in their garden, ride his riding lawnmower, playing games, and dancing.  Foremost he loved Jesus and his family.  Family time was most precious to Milo, and he especially enjoyed his yearly trip to Custer State Park where his family would gather for a weekend.  His last good days were spent there.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Pam; children, Deb (Tim) Berg and Rodney (Kelly) Hemmingson; and grandchild, Jasmine (Chet) Berg.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eugene; and nephew, David.
