Obituary

Mitzi Kim Wright Parkey passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 26, 2022.

She leaves behind a very dysfunctional family that she was very proud of. Mom ALSO left behind a lot of stuff that we have no idea what to do with?? A semi large collection of ceramic frogs, a variety of boots, bowls of various colors and sizes, numerous kitchen gadgets that we have no idea what they are used for?? Please wait the appropriate amount of time to get in touch with us if you could give us a clue on what to do…tomorrow would be great!! This is actually not an ad for an estate sale but a tribute to a devoted wife, wonderful mother, sister, Mimi, and furry mom.

Mom was renowned for her lack of patience, not holding back her opinion and a knack for telling it like it is. Her extensive vocabulary was more than highly proficient in knowing more curse words than most people learn in their life, she liked those colorful words as much as she loved her diet coke. These words of encouragement…lol, wisdom and comfort kept us all in line. Everyone always knew where they stood with her, Mom liked you or she didn't - it was black or white. As her daughters we are still trying to figure out which it was for us…joke…we know she loved us dearly.

She will be sorely missed and survived by her devoted husband, Harold Gene Parkey and her cherished grandson, Samuel Gene Parkey; her faithful companions, Wyatt and EB-who loved and helped care for her until the end. EB never left her side. Her loved sister, Debbie Griffith and husband Anthony; daughter, Nicole Reffitt and Guy; daughter, Amber Parkey and Dave; her spoiled grandchildren, Sarah, Abbigail, Samuel, Jackson, and Peyton Grace. She had great love for her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins- they were all precious to her. She had a special connection to her niece, Misty Wright; and her cousin, Bubba McCormack...she always looked forward to summer fun with them all.

Mom was born on November 14, 1954, in Odessa, TX to Bobby Joe and Helen Wright. She was the apple of her Daddy's eye until she met Harold Gene Parkey and then she was his throughout their almost 50 years of marriage. Mother had traveled more of the world before she was 20 than most do in a lifetime….and her diva personality showed it!! Mom and Dad settled back in Texas in 1977 after their courtship, marriage and adventures abroad. From a loving home in the Martins Mill area they raised their family. On vacation to Wyoming in 2003 Mom and Dad fell in love with the beauty of the country there and moved from their home in Texas to explore the grandeur of Wyoming until in 2013, they decided to make the Black Hills of South Dakota their forever home and settled in Whitewood. Mother always loved the Black Hills, and that is where she spent the remainder of her days with the love of her life.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby Joe and Helen Ruth Freeze Wright, and her older brother, Tony Wright.

Mom's ashes will be spread in some of her most favorite places- so she will be forever a part of the places she loved. The family will be having a celebration of life dinner at Bullwhackers Steakhouse, Thursday March 31, 2022, at 4pm. Please feel free to join us in celebration of this spirited woman's life.

All who loved her dearly will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm and grace (when needed) and her passion, love, and caring for them all.
