Moira was born June 5, 1935, at Lead, SD, to William K. and Mary (Hancock) Macdonald. She graduated from Sturgis High School.

She married Bill Kinney at Lead, SD, on January 25, 1953. Bill was stationed in the US Army and they lived in Tacoma, WA, until 1955 when they moved back to Sturgis. They have lived in Sturgis ever since.

Moira worked in the school cafeteria where she was known as "Mac" for 18 years. She delivered school lunches to Whitewood and the high school.

Moira loved to read books, sew, and listen to music; especially when her grandchildren played music. Family was most important to her and she was always serving others. Their home was open to anyone where they were treated like family. Her home was the central point for family gatherings and holidays.

She liked family vacations and enjoyed travel. She travelled to Scotland with her brothers and sisters to acknowledge her Scottish heritage.

Moira Jean Kinney, 81, Sturgis, died Sunday, October 30, 2016, at Sturgis Regional Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Bill, Sturgis; daughters, Debbie (Mark) Thompson, Dickinson, ND, and Shelley (Jerome) Biegler, McCook, NE; son, Jerry (Kay) Kinney, Negaunee, MI; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Beryl Hutchinson, Austin, TX, and Sheila Keller, Lead, SD; brothers, Colin (Judy) Macdonald, Topeka, KS, and Roy (Joyce) Macdonald, Surprise, AZ; sister-in-law, Barb Macdonald, St. Onge, SD; brother-in-law, Don (Peggy) Kinney, Sturgis, SD; sisters-in-law, Coral Smith, Sturgis, and Sharon (Paul) Kilzer, Madrid, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Denny and Bill Macdonald; sister-in-law, Glenda Macdonald; and grandson, Vincent Biegler.

Visitation will be 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis with Pastor Denzel Nonhof officiating.

Burial will follow at the Bear Butte Cemetery.

A memorial has been established.
