Mona Lenora Fox, 88, formerly of the Newell area, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at Clarkson Mtn. View Health Care in Rapid City.

Visitation will be Monday from noon to 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Believers Fellowship in Sturgis with Pastor John Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.

Mona was born March 8, 1923, at Belle Fourche, SD, to George and Antona (Bleha) Jones. She grew up on a farm north of Belle Fourche. She graduated from high school in Nisland.

Mona married Dale Fox on November 28, 1941. Dale served overseas in the Army during WWII. After he came home, they lived on the Fox ranch northwest of Redig. After a few years, they moved to another Fox ranch east of Redig where they lived until 1979. At this time, they moved to Newell to a small farm. They lived there for about 20 years before moving to Sturgis where they lived for a few years. The last four years, Mona lived in Rapid City in assisted living and finally at a nursing home.

Grateful to have shared her life are her daughters, Diana (Lowell) Smiley, Rapid City, and Sandra (Tom) DeYoe, Newell; son, Michael (Roberta) Fox, Redig; nine beloved grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Mona was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; one son, Kelly; her parents; and sisters and a brother.

She will be greatly missed.

A memorial has been established to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
