Mona Jean (Fields) Huck, 70, Spearfish, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017, at the David M. Dorsett Healthcare in Spearfish.
Mona was born, November 28, 1946, in Sturgis, SD, to Harley and Helen (Arndt) Fields. Growing up, she attended Newell public school and was a member of band, chorus, and 4-H. She later attended Parks Business School in Colorado. In 1963, Mona met the love of her life, Ralph Huck, and on February 4, 1965, they were married in Sturgis. Together, they raised two children, Charlotte (Kelly) Mitchell and Christopher (Pamela) Huck, who blessed them with 6 grandchildren, Jeremy Huck, Kilee Vogt, Jared Mitchell, Miranda Coral, Kristen Huck, and Samuel Huck; and 12 great-grandchildren; She is also survived by 2 sisters, Cindy Meyers and Linda O'Donnell; and one brother, Steve Fields.
She worked at the Lawrence county courthouse and was the owner and operator of Mona's Cleaning service until she retired. Mona was a member of the local Extension Club, Quilting Guild, Altar Society, and Christian/ EMHC. She also was a volunteer tour guide for the Heritage Center, was involved with the Woodworkers of the Black Hills, and was part of various Bible Study groups, as well as the Teachers of Catholic Religious Education. She enjoyed camping, fishing, snowmobiling, gardening, cooking, reading, quilting, crocheting, knitting, needle point, and the Pittsburg Steelers.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 8, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at St Patrick's Church in Lead, with a rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Lead. Inurnment will be at a later date at Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.
A memorial has been established to hospice care.
