Mona Vig Reichert of Billings, MT passed away unexpectedly of an aortic aneurism, on March 25, 2015.
Mona was born in Belle Fourche, SD on January 28, 1956. She was raised on the family ranch with her parents and seven brothers and sisters. The family raised Hereford cattle. In 1970, Vig Limousin began raising Limousin cattle. Mona was an important part of this operation.
In 1976, Mona was crowned the South Dakota Limousin Queen. Ranching and the rural life were important throughout her life. Mona worked in the early years as a book keeper and had a long career in the trucking industry. She received her Realtor license in 2005, working as a realtor for the last several years as well as a chemist at the beet processing plant.
Mona was fun loving, meticulous and excelled in many things. Once her mind was set on something, there was no going back. She had a wonderful caring heart especially for her furry family, Rosie, Jack and Sissy. Early every morning her dogs took her for a walk around Lake Elmo.
Many people were blessed by her gift of gardening, canning, sewing, cooking, refinishing antiques, renovating and decorating homes. There was almost no task she wouldn't tackle.
Mona was a mentor and a teacher for many. She had a heart for children, especially babies, and loved spending time with them. She was a special aunt to Nikki, Charity and Ella Terkildsen; Evan and Issac Moran, Amira and Arielle Loveridge and many other children.
Mona married Gene Reichert in 1981. Together they ran a trucking business and a boat touring business. Mona also had her Coast Guard Captain's license.
Mona is proceeded in death by her parents A. Wayne and Carole Vig and sisters Susan Vig and Lorane Parker.
Mona is survived by her step mother Hope Weiss Vig, Piedmont, SD, brother Barry (Cheryl) and children, Opal, SD, brother Martin and children, Opal, SD, sister Lorane's children, WY and OR, brother Andrew (Jacquee) and children, Rapid City, sister Lisa and daughters, Box Elder, SD, brother Morris, Rapid City, SD; step sister Sherri Brosmire and children, Billings, MT; step brother, Myron (Carol) Weiss and daughters, Fairpoint, SD; step sister Karen Bryan and children, Sturgis, SD; and step brother Chuck Weiss and daughters, Rapid City, SD, step children DeLynn Willis and children Jesse and Sadie Willis, New Underwood, SD, Monte (Loni) Reichert and children, Marissa (Jake) Dupre and Lacey of Rapid City, SD and Radley of New Underwood, SD.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Opal Community Church in Opal with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiatiing. Burial follows at the Opal Cemetery.
