Nancy Lee Speaks, 61, Piedmont, died Friday, February 28, 2014 at her home.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Pastor Karl Kroger officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Nancy was born April 21, 1952, in Webster, South Dakota to Sherman "Pete" Arnold and Patricia (Glad) Johnson. She was raised in Roslyn, South Dakota where she graduated from Roslyn High School in 1970.
After graduating high school, she moved to Minneapolis where she met and married her husband, Hugh Speaks. Nancy made her way to the Black Hills to be closer to family after losing the love of her life to cancer. She owned and operated the Slash J Bar and Grill for several years until she semi-retired in Piedmont.
Nancy is survived by her sisters, Linda (Scott) Ward, Piedmont, and Barbara Pogulis, Minneapolis, MN; uncle, Richard Glad, Roslyn, SD; and several nieces and nephews, Michelle, Eric, Brandon, Cody, Tom, and Karina.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
A memorial has been established.
