IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nathan Tyrel
Wheeler
April 29, 1981 – April 12, 2024
Nathan Tyrel Wheeler, Dad, T-Dubs, Tyrone, Ty-Ty, Uncle Ty, Tyrel, Wheels, was born to Mary and Terry Wheeler on April 29, 1981 in Arcata, California. He slow rolled into the gates of Heaven and was reunited with his father Terry and brother Ben on April 12, 2024.
He grew up in Humboldt County until the age of 7, when he moved with his family to Lassen County. He played baseball, basketball and football, although his finest achievements were through his academics. His intelligence was unmatched in our family throughout his life. He graduated from Lassen High School in 1999 and because of his love of learning, he continued his education through various avenues, degrees and certificates, up until the very end. He qualified for the show Jeopardy 3 separate times. He professed his faith in Jesus at a young age and officially got baptized by his father, alongside his brother Ben, in Eagle Lake after moving to Susanville. He found his purpose in life when he welcomed his daughter Kayla at the age of 24, his pride and joy. She was his crowning achievement and his greatest accomplishment. He spent much of his adult life expressing this love through his art and writings.
He worked at various jobs throughout his life, but one impactful employer was in Reno at Western Nevada Supply, where he thrived. He enjoyed doing deliveries and interacting with customers here for many years. In 2023, he moved to South Dakota to live in his father's cabin on the Harmon Ranch. He started a position at Fisher Beverage Co. where he found a love of sales, merchandising and showcasing his company's products. He was about to start an 8-week training to become a cicerone. He looked forward to days at the creek, waiting for the ice to form on the water so him and his nephews could do the polar plunge. He learned many new talents living on the ranch, including haying, fencing, construction (including building benches), catfishing (not the online kind), riding horses, and feeding the farm animals. He embraced the farm life alongside his trusted road dog, Bones.
In most settings he was quiet and reserved, until he found a listening ear to hear his take on any given conspiracy. Then you couldn't get him to stop talking. It was a unique and unforgettable experience every time you got to have a conversation with him. He had a quick wit and his one-on-one sense of humor was second to none.
He had an intense fear of air travel and could make you question if the earth really was round and had every argument under the sun to go along with it. He had deep and meaningful questions about God and the world and didn't just go along with what he had learned all his life but wanted to know things on his own.
When Ty smiled, his eyes twinkled. He was incredibly creative and practiced with a lot of different mediums - including drawing, painting, writing, tattooing and screen printing. He was always sporting a new T-shirt that he had just made.
After experiencing the loss of his father and brother, Ty embraced a more active role in family life. He enjoyed passing on his art skills to his nieces, nephews and greats as well as keeping involved in all of their extracurricular activities. Ever since he was little, he had a sensitive spirit and a heart of gold. He tried to show his care and love the best way he could. He'd always offer up a famous Wheeler bear hug. Ty was experienced in Irish goodbyes, except for always making sure his favorite nieces knew he was leaving. He loved his country and was very patriotic and had an unmatched fondness of the orange man.
If Ty could tell you anything today, he would tell you that Jesus is the way. John 11:25 says "Jesus said to her 'I am the resurrection and the life, He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live.'"
Ty is survived by his daughter, Kayla Denton Wheeler; granddaughter, Oaklynn and his loyal sidekick Bones; his mother, Mary Wheeler; his siblings, Brooke (Joe) Stokes, Windy (Danny) Jankel-Kelly, Kim (Tony) Harmon, April (Steve) Harkness, Ryan (Kim) Wheeler, and Ashlee Wheeler; his nieces and nephews, Mercedes, Kenny, Daniel, Danni, Taryn, Timmy, Mariah, Christian, Brittney, Paytn, B, Jake, Hunter, Hannah, Elijah, Caden, Keyera, Benjamin, Trynity, Colter, Landen, Peyton, Allie, Brody, Montana, Trapper, Easton, Branch, Sawyer and Boone, and great-nephews and nieces, Lukas, Linkin, Rowan, Lane, Rueka, Roper, Laramie, Rowdy, and Rio. He is preceded in death by his father, Terry C. Wheeler and brother, Benjamin T. Wheeler.
His celebration of life will be held on June 22, 2024 at the Harkness Ranch at 1pm. Contact the family for more details.
