Obituary

Nola Erlene Seymour, 98, Belle Fourche and formerly of Dupree, died Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the Belle Fourche Regional Senior Care .

A service will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Bruce Adams officiating.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the United Church of Christ in Dupree with Pastor Pauline Webb officiating. Burial follows at the Dupree Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the United Church of Christ in Dupree and the Dupree Senior Center.

Nola was born April 25, 1912, at Arnold, NE, to Clarence Newton and Myrtle Amy (Long) Brummet. At the age of six she moved with her family south of Lantry, SD. They later moved to a farm north of Lantry where she attended Aldrige School graduating 8th grade, Nola then went to school in Dupree where she graduated from the Dupree High School.

On September 12, 1933 she married Harvey Cecil "Happy" Seymour. The couple farmed north of Dupree where they raised their family until 1972 when Happy passed away. Nola lived the next 30 years in Dupree. She provided day care for the Kenny Hertel children for several years along with boarding kids from the country attending high school in Dupree. She moved to Golden Ridge Regional Senior Care in Lead and in 2005 she moved to Belle Fourche.

Nola loved her garden and flowers. She devoted many hours to community service and helping her neighbors. She was a 50 year member of the Cloverleaf Extension Club in Dupree. She was also a member of the Rebekahs and Royal Neighbors. She loved to quilt and crochet.

Nola was recognized as the homemaker of the year for Ziebach county and was the Pioneer Days parade marshall.

Survivors include her son Jack (Joan) Seymour, Sturgis; daughters, Lois Sever, Deadwood, Gail (Fred) Stambach, Dupree, Bonnie (special friend, Steve) Koch, Longville, MN; also 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 22 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, two sisters, and one son in law.
