Obituary

Norman Foos entered into rest August 16, 2008 at his home at Nisland, SD.

Visitation will be 8a.m until 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with the family present from 6 until 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Thursday August 21, 2008 at the Belle Fourche Community Center Theater. Burial follows at the Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.

He was born in Belle Fourche, SD to Lawrence and Sadie (Veldkamp) Foos. He grew up on the family dairy west of Nisland, SD where he attended school. He graduated from Newell High School in 1972.

December 14, 1979 he married Renee Couse and they began their life together at Nisland. They then moved to a ranch southeast of Hermosa, SD where they lived for four years until returning to Nisland were they continued to live till the time of his death. To Norman and Renee three children were born: John, Bryce, and Jenelle.

Upon moving back to Nisland, Norman farmed and operated a feedlot until he began raising registered Angus in 1984. Raising superior Angus cattle was his lifes ambition. Norman was involved in his community through FFA, 4-H, county fair, and school activities. He was a member of the Nisland-Arpan Fire Deptment for a few years, an active member of R-CALF and the Black Hills Angus Association. As a member he held several offices and was a state delegate to the National Angus Convention many times as well as an avid supporter of Angus breeders and the Angus breed in the Tri-State area. Norman was also a private pilot for many years, enjoyed snow skiing, and visiting with family and friends. Later in his life he had a fast growing interest in horses and was very supportive of his children and their lifes ambitions.

He is survived by his wife Renee; son John and wife Eva of Sunlight Basin Wyoming; son Bryce of Nisland South Dakota; and Jenelle of Sheridan Wyoming; father Lawrence and wife Cleo of Nisland; brother Kenneth and wife Lori; sister Karen Smith and husband Scott; Niece Kayla Foos and Nephews Cody Foos and Sebastian Smith; Sister-in-law Gail Dorn and Mother-in-law Ruth Couse of Corpus Christi Texas; and Numerous Aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by mother Sadie (Veldcamp) Foos, grandparents David and Dorothy Foos, Bert and Sadie Veldcamp, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
