Odin T. Hansen, 92, Sturgis, died Saturday May 20, 2006, at the Sturgis Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be 10 am Thursday May 25, 2006, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, with Pastor Ralph Vincell officiating. Burial follows at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.
Odin was born April 17, 1914 at Faith, to Leonard and Josephine (Torresen) Hansen. He attended rural schools in Meade County.
He was married to Ethel Arvidson, July 2, 1938 and moved to Burlington, WA, where their son Leonard was born. They returned to Sturgis and he was employed by the Tri-State Mill from 1940-1944. Sons, Eugene and Robert were born during this time. He farmed near Platte, from 1944-1956. His wife, Ethel, passed away in 1945.
Odin married Gladys Butler on November 28, 1954. Returning to Sturgis, he owned and operated rental property from 1956-1975 and was employed by the Meade 46-1 school district from 1957-1978. Son, Larry and daughter, Odena were born in Sturgis. He attended Open Bible Church and was a member of the Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include his wife Gladys Hansen, Sturgis; three sons, Leonard Hansen and his wife Marilyn, Sturgis, Robert Hansen and his wife Robin, Hauser, Idaho, Larry Hansen and his wife Pam, Burnsville, Minn.; one daughter, Odena Koth and her husband Mark, Sioux Falls; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Jennie Brink, Mitchell; one brother, David Hansen, Corsica; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel; son, Eugene, sisters, Betty Hansen and Lillie Hyland and one brother, Lloyd Hansen.
