Obituary

Orville Theodore "Koak" Kolbu, 90, Sturgis, died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at his home in Sturgis.

Visitation will be noon until 9 p.m. at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis on Wednesday.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m.Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis with Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating. Burial follows at the Pleasant View Cemetery at Red Owl.

Koak was born April 25, 1920 at Sturgis, SD, to Ingelbert T. and Nellie (Stainbrook) Kolbu. He attended two years of high school at Stoneville, SD, and graduated from Sturgis High School in 1939.

Koak married Arlene Stage on October 15, 1948 at Sturgis. Koak was a rancher all of his life. He served on local school boards, was a member of ASCS and several other organizations. He enjoyed traveling and visiting Alaska, Australia, Canada and most of the United States. Koak loved auctions, dancing and playing cards. Most of all, he enjoyed his kids, grand kids and great grand kids.

After moving to Sturgis in the fall of 1993 he enjoyed being a member of Kiwanis.

Survivors include his wife Arlene Kolbu, Sturgis; three daughters, Janet Lee (Dan) Gilger, Belle Fourche, Patricia Ann (Dave) Reinert, Gillette, WY, Sandra Kaye (Dean) Andrews, Red Owl; also seven grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Orville Albert and one brother John.

A memorial has been established to the Pleasant View Cemetery at Red Owl.
