Newcastle, WY ~ Patricia A. Smith, 80, Newcastle WY, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Patricia Ann (Updike) Smith, daughter of N.S. and Reta (Jones) Updike,was born April 25, 1932 In Newcastle, WY. Patricia married Charles W. Smith on May 21, 1951 in Cheyenne, WY. They had four children, Steve, Bill, Debra and Rick. Patricia was a past queen of the Job's Daughters Bethel # 15. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star #30, Daughters of the Nile, Inyan Kara Chapter DAR. She belonged to the Colonial Dames of the XVII Century. She was a Red Cross Grey Lady at the local hospital and a member of the N.C. Country Club. Patricia took an active part in the Republican Party in Weston County, serving as precinct committee woman and as secretary of the Weston Co. Rep. Central Committee and also worked for many years on the election board. She worked for Weston County Drug Co., was a clerk in the Weston County Clerk's office, and was a florist for 10 yrs. Survivors include her husband of 61 years Charles W. Smith; three sons, Steve Smith (Nancy), Newcastle WY, Bill Smith (Ellene), Portland, OR. and Rick Smith (Paula), Newcastle WY; a daughter, Debra Smith (Albert), Lead,SD; a sister, Betty Jo Benson (Ken), Cheyenne, WY; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Upon Patricia's request cremation has taken place and services will be at a later date.
