Obituary

Patricia A. Bachand was born in Lead, SD, at St. Joseph's Hospital on November 10, 1930, to Ed and Anne (Charnesky) Bachand. She spent her early childhood on the original homestead at Spring Creek in Bear Butte Valley. Following the death of her father, the family moved to Sturgis where she spent the rest of her days.

Patsy attended St. Martin's Academy and graduated in 1948. She continued her education at National College of Business before heading off to work at Ft. Meade Hospital. She worked as a secretary for the administration office as well as the social service department until her early retirement in 1971.

Sturgis was home for Patsy, however, she traveled the world over in the company of her siblings, Marilyn and Bruce. They all had a love for travel and the adventures it would offer them, touring 18 countries in Europe, the Holy Lands, New Zealand, Australia, and most of the 50 states. She was always happy to return home to her beloved mother whom she took great care. Not only was Patsy loyal to her mother and family, but also to our Lord, and the Catholic Church. Patsy never married and devoted herself to her holy devotion.

Patsy enjoyed playing cards after Sunday meals with her family, fishing, camping, and hiking. She also was an exceptional cook and pianist not to mention, a "step-in-mother" for her sister's children. Patsy had many attributes and touched many lives.

Patsy passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at the age of 85 at Sturgis Regional Senior Care.
